MARCH MEETING
Our next business meeting will be on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Lodge at Beaver Lake, 25201 SE 24th Street, Sammamish, at 9:30 a.m. At 10:00 a.m., after some social time along with coffee and treats, the meeting will convene with a brief welcome, followed by a program and a short business meeting.
We are pleased to welcome Bob Otis of the Issaquah Citizen Corps. The Corps' mission is "to encourage the citizens of Issaquah to be self-reliant and community-spirited by promoting all-hazard neighborhood preparedness through education, training, and volunteerism." One way they achieve this is through the CERT program (Community Emergency Response Team). The CERT is a group of community volunteers who step in to assist in a disaster of any type until the professionals are able to "be on the scene." The CERT training for Spring 2023 will be a four-week course with two classes per week and costs $35 for new registrants. The fee includes PPE (personal protection equipment), a CERT backpack and vest, a hard hat, and a basic medical supply kit. The next training session begins in April--perfect timing for any of our members who wish to become "superwomen." For more information on CERT and the Issaquah Citizen Corps more generally, go their website at www.issaquahcitizencorps.org.
